Kitchen with its film of grease and its limescale
Fronts, extractor hood, splashback and handles carry a film of grease which is dissolved with an alkaline agent; taps and sink need something acidic and a short contact time. Glass ceramic is worked with a blade scraper and a special paste, not with an abrasive, and stainless steel always in the direction of the grain.
A bathroom without damage to the material
Shower screen, tiles, taps and WC are descaled, and silicone joints and drains are checked. No acidic product is used on marble window sills, terrazzo or limestone floors, because there it is not dirt that is removed but material.
Floors according to the covering
Sealed parquet and laminate only damp-mopped, because the tongue and groove joints swell and the edges lift; oiled floors need a care product rather than a cleaner, natural stone a neutral pH. Tiles with cement joints may be treated more robustly.
Dust, high-level surfaces, glass inside
Skirtings, door leaves, radiator fins, light fittings, picture frames and the tops of cupboards; the inside faces of windows including frames and fittings by arrangement. That is the part which is the first to be left out in a quick clean.

The most common household damage is the wrong pH on stone
Marble, limestone, terrazzo and many window sills consist of calcium carbonate and react with acidic products — vinegar cleaners, descalers, WC cleaners — by dissolving the surface. The result is not a stain that can be cleaned off but a dull, etched patch, that is to say a loss of material which only goes away by grinding and refinishing. Conversely, linoleum and oiled timber floors do not tolerate strongly alkaline deep cleaners, because there the surface saponifies. That is why we record for each room which covering is there and which product suits it.
Registered or not is not a detail of the price
Anyone employing a cleaner in their own household without registering them is themselves the employer: registration before work begins, contributions and liability then sit with the household, and if there is an accident in the flat that is not a theoretical risk. For simple household tasks of limited extent Austria provides the Dienstleistungsscheck, the service voucher, as a lawful route which also covers accident insurance. Engage a firm instead and registration, continued payment of wages, cover and liability move there — our staff are employed by us and properly registered, and the public liability cover stands at €3m.
More product does not mean cleaner
Overdosed cleaners leave a surfactant film that attracts dust and makes glass and dark floors smeary — the home becomes dirty again faster than it did before. Separation matters just as much: microfibre pads and cloths are colour-coded by area so that sanitary germs do not travel to the kitchen worktop, and the mopping water is changed rather than used to the end. Microfibre itself loses its effect if it is washed with fabric softener, because the fibre tips stick together — it is washed without fabric softener at sixty degrees.
