External blinds and roller shutters are not an accessory of the window
The slats are thin, powder-coated or anodised aluminium: strongly alkaline cleaners make the coating patchily dull, a scouring pad leaves scratches, and a bent slat edge then catches in the guide. A shutter curtain must not be run back in wet, because moisture in the housing attacks the belt, the shaft and the motor — so the cleaning is done with the shading extended and wiped dry afterwards. We take the shading and the windows in one appointment, so that the order of work is right.
Misted glass on the inside is a moisture question, not a dirt question
Condensation on the inside of the pane and mildew marks in the reveal show that the humidity of the room is condensing at the coldest point — it happens more often after windows have been replaced, because the new joint is airtight and the old leak used to ventilate. We clean the surfaces and treat growth at the surface, and we say where it will come back unless ventilation changes or the junction is improved. With box-type windows the cavity has to be ventilated as well, or the outer pane sweats.
