Slip resistance does not survive the wrong aftercare
Floors in kitchens, wet areas and workshops are classified in assessment groups from R 9 to R 13, and that effect arises from the surface texture and the displacement space of the tile. A film-forming dressing or a coating closes the texture off — the surface looks better after the deep clean and is more dangerous than before, and that only becomes apparent with the first fall. In these areas we therefore deep clean with a grease-dissolving product, work it mechanically and hand it over without a maintenance film. On surfaces with an assessment group, that decision goes into our record, so that it can afterwards be traced why nothing was applied.
The dirt sits in the maintenance film, not on the flooring
Dressing products form a thin plastic film that protects the flooring and takes up dirt as it does so; after enough passes it is saturated, has yellowed and is merely redistributed by each mopping pass. That is why a higher dose achieves nothing — it takes a deep cleaner in the alkaline range, contact time and mechanical action to swell and release the layer. The decisive step comes afterwards: the solution has to be picked up wet before it dries on, or the dissolved film precipitates again across the whole area and the result is worse than the starting condition.
Not every flooring tolerates what PVC tolerates
Linoleum is sensitive to alkali and has a backing layer that does not like standing wet: too high a pH bleaches the surface, and too much water works from the back. Rubber floorings react to solvents and do not take ordinary coatings permanently, porcelain stoneware with an open microstructure needs vacuuming rather than a second wipe, and lime-bound natural stones rule out anything acidic. That is why establishing the flooring comes first, and not the question of which product happens to be on the trolley.
