What is often misjudged about Glass Cleaning

The fittings are the most sensitive part of the assembly
Clamps, hinges and handles on frameless glass assemblies are usually brushed stainless steel: cleaners containing chlorine and WC agents set off pitting corrosion there, which starts as a brown dot and never goes away again. Cleaning is done with a neutral or mild agent, finished in the direction of the grain, and clamping profiles are wiped out dry after the wet step, because water in the joint leaves limescale rims. Glass and fittings are therefore two surfaces with two agents and not one operation.
Edges and the edge seal will not take standing water
On fire-resistant glass with a gel layer, moisture at the edge and continuous sunlight lead to cloudiness and blisters in the layer, and that damage is final. Insulating glass has an edge seal that ages under constant wet and under alkaline agents: after that the cloudiness sits in the cavity between the panes, where no cleaning can reach. Laminated safety glass with an open edge can cloud along the interlayer where moisture gets in. We therefore work with very little liquid at edges and rebates and wipe profiles dry afterwards.
Photovoltaics are not cleaned like a window
Modules carry an anti-reflective layer: hard brushes, scouring agents and a blade take yield away permanently, and residues of cleaning agent form a film on which dirt settles again faster. Work is done with demineralised water and no additives, a soft brush and on a cool module — cold water on a pane heated up in operation is a thermal shock that can be avoided. The edge counts as well: moss and leaves at the frame shade cells permanently, and a permanently shaded cell becomes a hot spot in the module.
