The green deposit on substrate and fleece is algae
Where light and permanent damp come together, algae grow on mineral wool, fleece and the substrate surface — not dirt from outside but an indication of the conditions. Wiping damp achieves nothing: it distributes cells across the surface and brings additional water into the upper layer, which is covered for exactly that reason. It is taken off dry, and the lasting answer lies in the irrigation interval, the emitter volume per panel and the lighting duration — values that the planting contractor sets. Interior planting is supplied through plant lights, and their luminous flux passes through the cover glass and the reflector. A layer of dust on those two components markedly reduces the radiation arriving, and because it builds up slowly nobody notices it — what gets noticed first is the plant, which goes leggy and gives up the lower panels.
