Shine on a floor is not cleanliness, and can be a falling risk
A film-forming maintenance product lays down a polymer layer that reflects light and at the same time reduces the coefficient of friction — in a building with walking frames and walking sticks that is not a mark of quality. Linoleum, in turn, will not tolerate a permanently strongly alkaline attack, because the linoxyn layer saponifies and the surface becomes dull and blotchy; rubber reacts to solvent-based agents, and design floorings with a polyurethane finish to pads that are too aggressive. We clean in a way appropriate to the covering, keep the slip resistance of the floor that is laid, and set down in writing which surface gets which treatment.
Disinfectant is wiped on, not sprayed
Spraying produces an aerosol that is inhaled and covers the surface unevenly — dry islands are left on which the active substance never reaches the concentration needed. What is technically correct is wipe disinfection with a pre-soaked cloth and a defined area covered per cloth; spraying is used only where nothing else will reach, for instance on a wheelchair frame. In a building with respiratory illness that is not a formality but the difference between an effect and a smell.
Incontinence covers are killed by chlorine and alcohol
Mattress and seat covers in a care setting are made liquid-tight with a polyurethane layer, and that layer is sensitive to chlorine, alcohol and strongly alkaline agents: it becomes brittle, develops fine cracks, and after that liquid draws into the core, where it can no longer be reached. The cover still looks sound but smells again after a short time — the cause lies in the foam and not on the surface.
