02. What Upholstery Cleaning at Bling Bling covers
The scope of work in Graz at a glance — what the contract says and what actually happens on site.
Outdoor and garden upholstery
Coverings in acrylic and olefin fibre and foam cores with drainage tolerate moisture, but not long standing time in the wet: mildew stains sit in the fabric and in the core. Cleaned and then dried right through before covers or boxes are closed.
Odour work on textile and core
Nicotine, fire smell, sweat and kitchen grease sit at different depths: smoke particles high up and greasy, sweat salts in the foam. The work goes in stages — take up dry, dissolve where needed, flush through, dry — and is not masked with fragrance.
Identify the covering, then decide
The care label is read first and the covering identified: W stands for water-based cleaning, S for solvent, WS for both, X for vacuuming only. Added to that is a colourfastness test in a concealed spot, because viscose, linen and dark-dyed cotton are prone to bleeding.
Dry vacuuming and breaking up a matted pile
Before any moisture, the piece is vacuumed with upholstery and turbo nozzle, seams and piping included. Sand and mineral dust in the fabric are abrasive; if they stay in, water turns them into a slurry and the fibre is damaged as soon as it is brushed.
Spray extraction with a rinse pass
The cleaning solution is sprayed into the fibre and drawn off again in the same movement, followed by a pass with clear water. Separate clean and dirty water tanks are a precondition, otherwise dissolved soil is put straight back in.
Stain treatment by type of stain
Coffee, tea and red wine are tannin stains and are treated acidically through to oxidatively, blood and milk are protein and need cold water with enzymatic support, grease and ballpoint need solvent. Work goes from the outside inwards, blotting rather than rubbing.
In the university quarter furnished letting is the rule, and at the turn of the semester mattresses and upholstery run in series — there a short drying time counts for more than the last per cent of cleaning result, because the room is let again the next day. In the old town with its access restriction the machine is carried in. The winter inversion brings more mineral fine dust into the fabric, which is why dry vacuuming takes longer here than the extraction itself.
03. Upholstery Cleaning: Bling Bling vs. the competition
With upholstery it is not the soiling that decides the method but the covering, and the typical damage cannot be repaired: water rings on viscose, shrinkage along the seam, bled dye, a stiff seat with a musty smell. None of the four comes from too little effort; all four come from too much water, too much product and too long a drying time. That is why we establish the care code and the colourfastness before the first spray, work with a rinse pass and bring the residual moisture down quickly with blowers. We give the cost range after the inspection or after photographs, because the type of covering, the number of seats and the pattern of staining determine the work involved. In Graz, Bling Bling works with the same core team that knows the building.

06. 10 reasons for Upholstery Cleaning from Bling Bling
What a cleaning company has to be measured against — and which of it can be verified.
1In business since 2014
A family firm, not a franchise and not a broker — whoever quotes also carries out the work.
2Registered core team
Permanently employed and properly registered. No chain of subcontractors where nobody is liable at the end.
3The same people every time
The team knows the building, the access and the routines. Cover is arranged and named in advance.
4€3m public liability
Personal injury, property and financial loss covered; the certificate is attached to the quotation.
5RKI/VAH-listed agents, HACCP
Listed agents, trained staff, a cleaning and disinfection plan for each building.
6Multilingual
German, English and five further languages — the briefing gets through.
7No price without a site visit
A flat price over the phone rarely holds. After the visit the framework is set out in writing.
8Dated proof
Record of each visit and photo documentation, reported monthly.
9Encapsulation for premises that are running again tomorrow
Banked seating, office floors and hospitality can be run with polymer methods — short drying, no room standing wet overnight, and no residue when the dosing is right.
10Leather work is priced and tested separately
Finish, dye release and the need for refatting are checked beforehand in a concealed area; what cannot be done on open-pored leather or hydrolysed synthetic leather we say before the order.
07. Upholstery Cleaning in 4 more cities
Bling Bling works in Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg and Klosterneuburg — with its own staff on site, not with subcontractors hired in.
08. Upholstery Cleaning for 5 typical situations
The same service looks different depending on the occasion — these five situations come up most often.
Before handover or passing something on
A furnished flat, a sublet or a sale: upholstery and mattresses are cleaned and the condition is recorded with a date.
After fire or smoke damage in the room
Soot lies greasy and alkaline on every textile surface. What counts here is that the dry work comes first, because moisture fixes the soot into the fibre, and that the photographic record fits what the insurer needs.
After water ingress or a burst pipe
Soaked upholstery and mattresses have to go into drying within hours, otherwise growth starts in the foam core. We decide on the findings what is cleaned and dried and what has to go.
Cinema, theatre and auditorium in the dark period
Banked seating can only be run if the auditorium is free for several days. Encapsulation shortens the standing time, because no seat has to spend the night wet.
Care and assisted-living facilities
Seating and mattresses under continuous load need a fixed cycle with flushing through rather than surface cleaning, along with separate treatment by room and a documented release.
★ Worth knowing
What is often misjudged about Upholstery Cleaning
Said up front, on the facts — not after the invoice.
Soot is taken up dry first
Fire soot particles are fine, greasy and alkaline, and they bind the odorous substances from the combustion; as soon as water is added they are drawn into the fibre and can no longer be fully brought back out. The professionally correct sequence is dry before damp: vacuuming with a fine particulate filter, pick-up with dry-working sponge materials, and only then a targeted, mildly alkaline treatment with extraction. The smell additionally sits in the foam core and in timber parts, which is why several passes and long, active drying are needed. Where a core is contaminated over a larger area, we say plainly that replacement is the better use of the money — and we record it in a form an insurer can work with.
Putting something into storage means putting it away dry
Polyurethane foam takes up moisture and gives it off slowly: a cushion that feels dry on top can still hold considerable residual moisture in the core, and under film or in a closed box that produces mould within weeks, along with a smell that never comes out again. Warmth and moisture additionally accelerate hydrolysis of the foam, which then becomes brittle and crumbles the next time it is set up. That is why cleaning before storage includes active drying with air movement, standing the cushions on edge and a check on residual moisture, and packing that breathes rather than being airtight. Garden cushions in storage boxes, closed up still damp in the autumn, make exactly the same mistake.
The letter on the label decides what is possible at all
W, S, WS and X are not a recommendation but the manufacturer's statement of the permitted cleaning method: a covering marked X may only be vacuumed. Clean it wet regardless and you get rings, sometimes shrinkage at the seams, and with viscose additionally dull, stiff patches, because the fibre loses a great deal of its strength when wet. If the label is missing, the decision is made by fibre test and a concealed trial beforehand — and if only vacuuming and a solvent treatment can be justified, we say so in advance and not afterwards.

●. Frequently asked questions about Upholstery Cleaning in Graz
What does Upholstery Cleaning cost?
There is no price before the site visit, and a figure given over the phone rarely holds. We look at surfaces, access and time windows, and then the cost framework is set out in writing with a schedule of services. What changes the price: the area, the frequency, the condition at handover and the time of day the work is done.
Is the site visit really free?
Yes, free of charge and without obligation. It is the only way to quote seriously, so we treat it as part of the offer, not as a service to be paid for.
Does the same person come every time?
Yes. The team is permanently employed and knows the building, the access arrangements and the routines. Cover is arranged in advance and named, and it works from the building log, not from a verbal handover.
Is your staff properly registered?
All of them, with social insurance. No chain of subcontractors in which nobody is liable at the end. Proof is provided on request.
What insurance is in place?
Public liability of €3m, covering personal injury, property damage and financial loss. The certificate is attached to the quotation.
What happens if something is not right?
It is put right within 48 hours, in writing, at no extra cost. Measured against the schedule of services and a joint inspection, not against an impression.
Can you work outside business hours?
Yes — early, late, at weekends or on public holidays. In occupied buildings, daytime cleaning in sections is often the better option, because the client sees the work and can raise anything immediately.
Do I have to provide materials or a room?
Materials and equipment we bring. What helps is a lockable store with a slop sink, space for the trolley and somewhere for pads to dry — damp pads in a closed bag are the most common source of smell in an otherwise clean building.
What notice period applies?
The contract is terminable monthly. There is no minimum term and no automatic extension by the year.
Do you also work in English?
Yes — German, English and five further languages. The briefing gets through, which matters more on site than it sounds.
Which documents do I get?
A schedule of services with frequencies, a dated record of each visit, photo documentation before and after, and a monthly report.
How quickly can you start?
Usually within a few working days of the quotation being accepted. Short-notice jobs are most readily possible in Vienna, because travel times within a district are short.
