02. What Upholstery Cleaning at Bling Bling covers
The scope of work in Linz at a glance — what the contract says and what actually happens on site.
Stain treatment by type of stain
Coffee, tea and red wine are tannin stains and are treated acidically through to oxidatively, blood and milk are protein and need cold water with enzymatic support, grease and ballpoint need solvent. Work goes from the outside inwards, blotting rather than rubbing.
Drying and residual moisture
After extraction, air movement is brought in to help, seat cushions are stood on edge and the residual moisture is checked. Depending on the upholstery and the room air, four to twelve hours is realistic, longer with a dense foam core.
Mattresses, office chairs, contract upholstery
Mattresses are vacuumed and spot-treated, fleets of office chairs in a building row by row; mesh backs and contract fabrics such as Trevira CS behave differently from domestic upholstery and are run accordingly.
Leather treated according to its finish
Pigmented leather tolerates a water-based clean followed by refatting; aniline and nubuck leather react with water rings and may only be worked dry or by special methods. Which finish is present is established by a concealed absorption test, not by what the furniture cost.
Encapsulation for seating that cannot take wet work
For contract chairs, banked seating and coverings that will not tolerate extraction, a polymer solution is used: the soil is encapsulated, crystallises as it dries and is then vacuumed off. The room is usable again after a few hours, but with grease and urine extraction remains the method of choice.
Bench seating, wall upholstery and fixed built-in work
Hospitality benches, wall coverings, window-seat pads and alcoves cannot be moved, so the work is done with limited moisture and immediate pick-up, with protection at timber frames and plinths. Seams, piping and the junction with the wall are the places where water does the damage.
The iron-oxide-bearing dust from the industrial surroundings lodges in light-coloured coverings and looks reddish rather than grey; because it is mineral and sharp-edged it has to come out completely dry, otherwise water turns it into a slurry that sets in the fibre and damages the surface as soon as it is brushed. Works canteens, staff rooms and changing rooms with seating on shift operation give appointments between two shifts, so short windows with active drying. Access to works premises goes through a pass and a briefing.
03. Upholstery Cleaning: Bling Bling vs. the competition
With upholstery it is not the soiling that decides the method but the covering, and the typical damage cannot be repaired: water rings on viscose, shrinkage along the seam, bled dye, a stiff seat with a musty smell. None of the four comes from too little effort; all four come from too much water, too much product and too long a drying time. That is why we establish the care code and the colourfastness before the first spray, work with a rinse pass and bring the residual moisture down quickly with blowers. We give the cost range after the inspection or after photographs, because the type of covering, the number of seats and the pattern of staining determine the work involved. In Linz, Bling Bling works with the same core team that knows the building.

06. 10 reasons for Upholstery Cleaning from Bling Bling
What a cleaning company has to be measured against — and which of it can be verified.
1In business since 2014
A family firm, not a franchise and not a broker — whoever quotes also carries out the work.
2Registered core team
Permanently employed and properly registered. No chain of subcontractors where nobody is liable at the end.
3The same people every time
The team knows the building, the access and the routines. Cover is arranged and named in advance.
4€3m public liability
Personal injury, property and financial loss covered; the certificate is attached to the quotation.
5RKI/VAH-listed agents, HACCP
Listed agents, trained staff, a cleaning and disinfection plan for each building.
6Multilingual
German, English and five further languages — the briefing gets through.
7No price without a site visit
A flat price over the phone rarely holds. After the visit the framework is set out in writing. A monthly flat rate applies to weekly recurring cleaning; one-off and deep cleans by effort - hourly, per square metre or flat - travel included.
8Dated proof
Record of each visit and photo documentation, reported monthly.
9Leather work is priced and tested separately
Finish, dye release and the need for refatting are checked beforehand in a concealed area; what cannot be done on open-pored leather or hydrolysed synthetic leather we say before the order.
10Extraction equipment and blowers in-house
Spray extraction machines with separate tanks, upholstery nozzles and drying blowers are part of the kit. That way the appointment does not end with a wet sofa and a request for patience.
07. Upholstery Cleaning in 4 more cities
Bling Bling works in Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg and Klosterneuburg — with its own staff on site, not with subcontractors hired in.
08. Upholstery Cleaning for 5 typical situations
The same service looks different depending on the occasion — these five situations come up most often.
A second-hand piece taken on
An inheritance, a flat taken over or a second-hand purchase: the first pass is a deep clean including the cushion core and the underframe.
A fleet of office chairs in a building
Twenty to two hundred chairs after years in service: seats, backs, mesh backs and castors in one pass, usually at the weekend.
Hospitality and hotels after the season
Banqueting chairs, armchair groups and bench seating carry grease, drinks and sun cream. That is a serial job with a drying window overnight.
Before handover or passing something on
A furnished flat, a sublet or a sale: upholstery and mattresses are cleaned and the condition is recorded with a date.
After fire or smoke damage in the room
Soot lies greasy and alkaline on every textile surface. What counts here is that the dry work comes first, because moisture fixes the soot into the fibre, and that the photographic record fits what the insurer needs.
★ Worth knowing
What is often misjudged about Upholstery Cleaning
Said up front, on the facts — not after the invoice.
With leather it is the finish that decides, not the soiling
Pigmented leather has an opaque colour layer and repels water; aniline and semi-aniline leather are open-pored and take up water in spots — there, even a damp cloth leaves a ring that never goes away again. What matters just as much is that leather loses fat with every clean and, without refatting, hardens and cracks at the flex points, which is why cleaning and care belong together. Polyurethane synthetic leather is a special case: over the years it breaks down by hydrolysis, turns tacky and splits open over whole areas — that is material ageing and not a cleaning matter, and any treatment accelerates it. Dye released by dark denim migrates into the pigment layer on light leather and is therefore not superficial; what is possible we say after the test and not beforehand on the telephone.
Soot is taken up dry first
Fire soot particles are fine, greasy and alkaline, and they bind the odorous substances from the combustion; as soon as water is added they are drawn into the fibre and can no longer be fully brought back out. The professionally correct sequence is dry before damp: vacuuming with a fine particulate filter, pick-up with dry-working sponge materials, and only then a targeted, mildly alkaline treatment with extraction. The smell additionally sits in the foam core and in timber parts, which is why several passes and long, active drying are needed. Where a core is contaminated over a larger area, we say plainly that replacement is the better use of the money — and we record it in a form an insurer can work with.
Putting something into storage means putting it away dry
Polyurethane foam takes up moisture and gives it off slowly: a cushion that feels dry on top can still hold considerable residual moisture in the core, and under film or in a closed box that produces mould within weeks, along with a smell that never comes out again. Warmth and moisture additionally accelerate hydrolysis of the foam, which then becomes brittle and crumbles the next time it is set up. That is why cleaning before storage includes active drying with air movement, standing the cushions on edge and a check on residual moisture, and packing that breathes rather than being airtight. Garden cushions in storage boxes, closed up still damp in the autumn, make exactly the same mistake.

●. Frequently asked questions about Upholstery Cleaning in Linz
What does Upholstery Cleaning cost?
There is no price before the site visit, and a figure given over the phone rarely holds. We look at surfaces, access and time windows, and then the cost framework is set out in writing with a schedule of services. What changes the price: the area, the frequency, the condition at handover and the time of day the work is done. Two rules apply everywhere: a monthly flat rate is only offered for recurring cleaning at least once a week, including stairwells. One-off jobs, first cleans and deep cleans are billed by effort - depending on the service by the hour at a higher rate, by square metre or as a flat price - and travel time there and back counts.
Is the site visit really free?
Yes, free of charge and without obligation. It is the only way to quote seriously, so we treat it as part of the offer, not as a service to be paid for.
Does the same person come every time?
Yes. The team is permanently employed and knows the building, the access arrangements and the routines. Cover is arranged in advance and named, and it works from the building log, not from a verbal handover.
Is your staff properly registered?
All of them, with social insurance. No chain of subcontractors in which nobody is liable at the end. Proof is provided on request.
What insurance is in place?
Public liability of €3m, covering personal injury, property damage and financial loss. The certificate is attached to the quotation.
What happens if something is not right?
It is put right within 48 hours, in writing, at no extra cost. Measured against the schedule of services and a joint inspection, not against an impression.
Can you work outside business hours?
Yes — early, late, at weekends or on public holidays. In occupied buildings, daytime cleaning in sections is often the better option, because the client sees the work and can raise anything immediately.
Do I have to provide materials or a room?
Materials and equipment we bring. What helps is a lockable store with a slop sink, space for the trolley and somewhere for pads to dry — damp pads in a closed bag are the most common source of smell in an otherwise clean building.
What notice period applies?
The contract is terminable monthly. There is no minimum term and no automatic extension by the year.
Do you also work in English?
Yes — German, English and five further languages. The briefing gets through, which matters more on site than it sounds.
Which documents do I get?
A schedule of services with frequencies, a dated record of each visit, photo documentation before and after, and a monthly report.
How quickly can you start?
Usually within a few working days of the quotation being accepted. Short-notice jobs are most readily possible in Vienna, because travel times within a district are short.
