02. What Data Centre Cleaning at Bling Bling covers
The scope of work in Salzburg at a glance — what the contract says and what actually happens on site.
Dry coolers and outdoor units
The fins, guards and intake areas of outdoor units clog up with pollen, leaves, seeds and dust. Cleaning is done with the unit switched off, at a suitable pressure and in the direction of the fins, because bent fins restrict the air path permanently.
Standby power, generator and fuel room
After test runs there is a finely distributed film of soot on the housing, the floor and the wall surfaces, along with traces of oil at the unions. Cleaning is done once cool and with collection into separate containers, and leaks are reported.
Carrier, distribution and fibre rooms
After splicing and patching work there are fibre offcuts, buffer tubes and protective sleeves on the floor and on the shelves. Collection is exclusively with a fine particulate filter vacuum and adhesive tape, disposal in closed containers, and connectors and patch panels are left untouched.
Cold aisle containment, airlock and matting
The roof elements, sliding doors, tracks and sealing lips of the containment are cleaned, and barrier mats and adhesive layers in the airlock are replaced. A sliding door binding in the containment is a cooling matter and is reported.
Access, escort, zones
Before the first visit it is settled which zones are entered — server room, raised floor void, UPS and battery room, ante-room, store — and who escorts. The list of names is part of the access arrangement, and equipment and cabling are not operated.
Floors in the server room
Raised floor panels are worked at a defined residual moisture, with products that leave no film. Waxes and care coatings are not used, because they alter the dissipative properties of the covering and break open under roll cages.
Larger installations stand in commercial areas on the edge of the city, while in the old town one finds small plant rooms in historic buildings with no raised floor and narrow access, into which materials are carried. The high humidity through the year means that condensate trays and the drains of the close-control units fill more heavily and clog faster, until water is standing in the raised floor or on the screed. Pollen and leaf input from the surroundings loads dry coolers particularly heavily in spring.
03. Data Centre Cleaning: Bling Bling vs. the competition
In a data centre dust is not a question of appearance but of heat: it is drawn in, settles on heat sinks and intake grilles and costs cooling capacity long before anything fails. At the same time the cleaning itself is the risk factor — a cable brushed against, a floor panel put back wrongly, an electrostatic discharge or a false alarm from the early fire detection do more damage than the dust. That is why we work with an opening plan, dissipative equipment, extraction only and a fixed list of names, agreed with the operator. We give the cost range after the inspection, because the number of zones, the access rules and the floor construction determine the work involved. In Salzburg, Bling Bling works with the same core team that knows the building.

06. 10 reasons for Data Centre Cleaning from Bling Bling
What a cleaning company has to be measured against — and which of it can be verified.
1In business since 2014
A family firm, not a franchise and not a broker — whoever quotes also carries out the work.
2Registered core team
Permanently employed and properly registered. No chain of subcontractors where nobody is liable at the end.
3The same people every time
The team knows the building, the access and the routines. Cover is arranged and named in advance.
4€3m public liability
Personal injury, property and financial loss covered; the certificate is attached to the quotation.
5RKI/VAH-listed agents, HACCP
Listed agents, trained staff, a cleaning and disinfection plan for each building.
6Multilingual
German, English and five further languages — the briefing gets through.
7No price without a site visit
A flat price over the phone rarely holds. After the visit the framework is set out in writing. A monthly flat rate applies to weekly recurring cleaning; one-off and deep cleans by effort - hourly, per square metre or flat - travel included.
8Dated proof
Record of each visit and photo documentation, reported monthly.
9A fixed list of names instead of changing staff
The same employed, properly registered people come, and no subcontractors. In a data centre the list of people is part of the access arrangement and not an administrative detail.
10Findings go to the operator
Points noticed in the void — open cable penetrations, missing blanking panels, corroded panel undersides, traces of condensate at the close-control cooling — are photographed and reported. None of it is worked on without an instruction.

Bling Bling works in Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg and Klosterneuburg — with its own staff on site, not with subcontractors hired in.
08. Data Centre Cleaning for 5 typical situations
The same service looks different depending on the occasion — these five situations come up most often.
Before certification or recertification
Anyone certifying availability and information security has to present a cleanliness standard and evidence. We supply a zone plan, a photographic record and a dated filter list.
Before handing back colocation space
At the end of a contract what counts is empty racks, closed floor cut-outs, blanking panels and a documented condition in the void. Survey, cleaning and handover record in one sequence.
After building or conversion work in the server room
Drilling, cutting and filling leave mineral fine dust which gets into the intake air. That is the single most important occasion and belongs before recommissioning.
Before an audit or a customer visit
Anyone letting colocation space is judged on condition and evidence. We supply a dated photographic record for each zone.
Before new racks are installed or a cabling round is run
Cleaning is done before the void is opened, so that pulling the cables does not stir up a year's worth of dust.
★ Worth knowing
What is often misjudged about Data Centre Cleaning
Said up front, on the facts — not after the invoice.
Wax and care films destroy the dissipative properties
Dissipative floor coverings only work as long as their surface resistance stays low; any layer of wax or polymer applied on top insulates and turns the person walking over it into a charge carrier. With dry room air — in winter the relative humidity in server rooms often falls below thirty per cent — that is enough for discharges which do not destroy components immediately but pre-damage them: the failure comes weeks later and is then no longer attributed to it. That is why we clean with film-free, antistatically acting products and wear a wrist strap and dissipative footwear when working at an open rack.
A clogged filter costs cooling capacity; one that has broken through costs more
Close-control cooling units and outside air filters are classified by filtration efficiency, and their service life depends not on the calendar but on the differential pressure: as it rises, the air volume flow falls, the supply air temperature in the cold aisle becomes uneven, and the plant works against its own resistance. If it is left too long, the mat tears or the dust breaks through it, and then exactly what the filter was meant to hold back is lying in the cold aisle. Knocking out, blowing out or washing makes mats denser or holed, never better — they are replaced and documented. With dry coolers the pollen flight comes on top: a flattened fin costs capacity on hot days precisely when it is needed.
With early fire detection and gas extinguishing, the coordination is part of the work
Aspirating smoke detectors draw room air in through a pipe system and detect the smallest particles — which is exactly why they react to stirred-up dust, and any cleaning work near them can produce an alarm. The damage does not lie in the alarm itself: if an inert gas extinguishing system discharges, the outflow creates a sound pressure which can cause read and write errors on hard disks, up to and including failure, and on top of that come pressure relief, refilling the extinguishing agent and the interruption to operations. That is why the detector group concerned is switched out with the operator before work starts and switched back in afterwards, both with the time in the record. We do not work on the pipe system itself — that belongs to the maintenance company.

●. Frequently asked questions about Data Centre Cleaning in Salzburg
What does Data Centre Cleaning cost?
There is no price before the site visit, and a figure given over the phone rarely holds. We look at surfaces, access and time windows, and then the cost framework is set out in writing with a schedule of services. What changes the price: the area, the frequency, the condition at handover and the time of day the work is done. Two rules apply everywhere: a monthly flat rate is only offered for recurring cleaning at least once a week, including stairwells. One-off jobs, first cleans and deep cleans are billed by effort - depending on the service by the hour at a higher rate, by square metre or as a flat price - and travel time there and back counts.
Is the site visit really free?
Yes, free of charge and without obligation. It is the only way to quote seriously, so we treat it as part of the offer, not as a service to be paid for.
Does the same person come every time?
Yes. The team is permanently employed and knows the building, the access arrangements and the routines. Cover is arranged in advance and named, and it works from the building log, not from a verbal handover.
Is your staff properly registered?
All of them, with social insurance. No chain of subcontractors in which nobody is liable at the end. Proof is provided on request.
What insurance is in place?
Public liability of €3m, covering personal injury, property damage and financial loss. The certificate is attached to the quotation.
What happens if something is not right?
It is put right within 48 hours, in writing, at no extra cost. Measured against the schedule of services and a joint inspection, not against an impression.
Can you work outside business hours?
Yes — early, late, at weekends or on public holidays. In occupied buildings, daytime cleaning in sections is often the better option, because the client sees the work and can raise anything immediately.
Do I have to provide materials or a room?
Materials and equipment we bring. What helps is a lockable store with a slop sink, space for the trolley and somewhere for pads to dry — damp pads in a closed bag are the most common source of smell in an otherwise clean building.
What notice period applies?
The contract is terminable monthly. There is no minimum term and no automatic extension by the year.
Do you also work in English?
Yes — German, English and five further languages. The briefing gets through, which matters more on site than it sounds.
Which documents do I get?
A schedule of services with frequencies, a dated record of each visit, photo documentation before and after, and a monthly report.
How quickly can you start?
Usually within a few working days of the quotation being accepted. Short-notice jobs are most readily possible in Vienna, because travel times within a district are short.
