The top coat of an ETICS is a few millimetres thin and lies on soft insulation. Too much pressure opens the surface; after that water stands in the layer and the next frost works on it further — and the facade is green again faster than before. After the cleaning is the moment for prevention
Cleaned mineral render that has dried out sufficiently will take a water-repellent treatment based on silane or siloxane; a substrate that is still damp or still covered will not. Depending on the weather the drying time is several days, and the effect rests on the agent penetrating the capillaries rather than sealing them. Pigeon droppings are never worked dry
