02. What Animal Shelter Cleaning at Bling Bling covers

The scope of work in Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg and Klosterneuburg at a glance — what the contract says and what actually happens on site.

Boxes and kennels on a fixed cycle

Cleared out, faeces and bedding removed, foamed on, left to act, rinsed off without pressure, water squeegeed off and dried. Only a dry box goes back into occupancy.

Choice of product by pathogen

Which preparation is used depends on the findings: non-enveloped viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasite stages call for different spectra of activity and different contact times.

Cat rooms and quarantine kept separate

Their own equipment, their own cloths and a sequence running from clean to unclean. Quarantine is done last, and nothing is carried back.

Feed kitchen and feed store

Worktops, bowls, chopping boards, refrigerators and storage containers with cleaning, disinfection and rinsing. Signs of pests are reported and not wiped away.

Runs, bars and gullies

Kennel gullies, channels, the bars of grilles, door rebates and the transitions to the outdoor areas. That is where the organic load persists longest.

Treatment, staff and visitor areas

Treatment table and scales as contact surfaces, waiting room, sanitary facilities and corridors, documented with a date for each area.

03. Animal Shelter Cleaning: Bling Bling vs. the competition

In an animal shelter, cleaning is part of disease prevention, and the occupancy changes continually: animals arrive with an unclear history, go into quarantine, change boxes, and in between it is the surfaces that decide whether an infection costs a single case or a whole wing. The most frequent technical mistake is one standard product for everything: quaternary ammonium compounds and alcohol do not cover non-enveloped viruses such as parvoviruses and caliciviruses, and against Giardia cysts and coccidian oocysts the way through is predominantly cleaning, drying and heat. We work to a written plan, choose the product to match the pathogen, observe contact times and document every area with a date. What needs doing follows from the site inspection; occupancy, construction and drainage determine the work involved and with it the cost.

06. 10 reasons for Animal Shelter Cleaning from Bling Bling

What a cleaning company has to be measured against — and which of it can be verified.

1In business since 2014

A family firm, not a franchise and not a broker — whoever quotes also carries out the work.

2Registered core team

Permanently employed and properly registered. No chain of subcontractors where nobody is liable at the end.

3The same people every time

The team knows the building, the access and the routines. Cover is arranged and named in advance.

4€3m public liability

Personal injury, property and financial loss covered; the certificate is attached to the quotation.

5RKI/VAH-listed agents, HACCP

Listed agents, trained staff, a cleaning and disinfection plan for each building.

6Multilingual

German, English and five further languages — the briefing gets through.

7No price without a site visit

A flat price over the phone rarely holds. After the visit the framework is set out in writing. A monthly flat rate applies to weekly recurring cleaning; one-off and deep cleans by effort - hourly, per square metre or flat - travel included.

8Dated proof

Record of each visit and photo documentation, reported monthly.

9Staff who can handle animals

In an occupied wing, calm is what counts. The same people do the work, the animals recognise them again, and the round does not become a stressful event every time.

10Records for the official veterinarian and the operator

Product, concentration, contact time and area are documented for every round — at an inspection that is half the work done.

08. Animal Shelter Cleaning for 5 typical situations

The same service looks different depending on the occasion — these five situations come up most often.

After a case of parvovirus or cat flu

The affected wing in full, with a product in the appropriate spectrum of activity, the full contact time and drying afterwards.

Before new occupancy following quarantine

Box, grille, gully and surroundings are released before the next animal moves in.

Taking in animals from poor keeping conditions

A high organic load, parasite stages and smell: a staged procedure, with protective equipment and separate disposal.

After conversion or refurbishment on site

Building and grinding dust in kennels, gullies and ventilation has to be out completely before the animals move back in.

Before an inspection by the authorities

All areas to plan, with records for each area and a date.

★ Worth knowing

What is often misjudged about Animal Shelter Cleaning

Said up front, on the facts — not after the invoice.

Not every disinfectant reaches parvovirus

Non-enveloped viruses such as canine parvovirus and feline calicivirus have no lipid envelope for alcohol and quaternary ammonium compounds to act on; they survive weeks to months on surfaces and need a preparation with a declared spectrum of activity, in animal keeping usually selected from the DVG list. Two things are decisive, and they are the two most often missing in daily practice: the surface has to be free of faeces, bedding and feed residues beforehand, because organic load binds the active substance, and it has to stay visibly wet for the whole of the stated contact time. Spray a box out and squeegee it straight off and you have cleaned it, not disinfected it.

Pressure washing in an occupied wing spreads what it is meant to remove

A hard jet creates an aerosol, and that carries pathogens into neighbouring boxes and into the air that animals and staff breathe. What is technically right is: take up coarse dirt dry, foam on, leave to act, rinse off without pressure, squeegee the water off, dry — and the drying is itself a hygiene step, because Giardia cysts and coccidian oocysts respond hardly at all to standard disinfection but markedly to drying out and heat. A box put back into occupancy damp is the worse box, disinfection notwithstanding.

The product has to suit the animal as well

Phenol derivatives are toxic to cats, because the breakdown route by glucuronidation is only available to them to a limited extent; residues on paws, coat and bowls get licked off, and chlorine-based products in combination with acidic cleaners produce chlorine gas. This is why the surface is rinsed after the contact time, the water is squeegeed off and the area handed over dry, and in the cat area only preparations approved for it are used. What is used where is set out in our plan and not in the habit of the day.

●. Frequently asked questions about Animal Shelter Cleaning

What does Animal Shelter Cleaning cost?

There is no price before the site visit, and a figure given over the phone rarely holds. We look at surfaces, access and time windows, and then the cost framework is set out in writing with a schedule of services. What changes the price: the area, the frequency, the condition at handover and the time of day the work is done. Two rules apply everywhere: a monthly flat rate is only offered for recurring cleaning at least once a week, including stairwells. One-off jobs, first cleans and deep cleans are billed by effort - depending on the service by the hour at a higher rate, by square metre or as a flat price - and travel time there and back counts.

Is the site visit really free?

Yes, free of charge and without obligation. It is the only way to quote seriously, so we treat it as part of the offer, not as a service to be paid for.

Does the same person come every time?

Yes. The team is permanently employed and knows the building, the access arrangements and the routines. Cover is arranged in advance and named, and it works from the building log, not from a verbal handover.

Is your staff properly registered?

All of them, with social insurance. No chain of subcontractors in which nobody is liable at the end. Proof is provided on request.

What insurance is in place?

Public liability of €3m, covering personal injury, property damage and financial loss. The certificate is attached to the quotation.

What happens if something is not right?

It is put right within 48 hours, in writing, at no extra cost. Measured against the schedule of services and a joint inspection, not against an impression.

Can you work outside business hours?

Yes — early, late, at weekends or on public holidays. In occupied buildings, daytime cleaning in sections is often the better option, because the client sees the work and can raise anything immediately.

Do I have to provide materials or a room?

Materials and equipment we bring. What helps is a lockable store with a slop sink, space for the trolley and somewhere for pads to dry — damp pads in a closed bag are the most common source of smell in an otherwise clean building.

What notice period applies?

The contract is terminable monthly. There is no minimum term and no automatic extension by the year.

Do you also work in English?

Yes — German, English and five further languages. The briefing gets through, which matters more on site than it sounds.

Which documents do I get?

A schedule of services with frequencies, a dated record of each visit, photo documentation before and after, and a monthly report.

How quickly can you start?

Usually within a few working days of the quotation being accepted. Short-notice jobs are most readily possible in Vienna, because travel times within a district are short.
