02. What Pool Cleaning at Bling Bling covers
The scope of work in Graz at a glance — what the contract says and what actually happens on site.
Whirlpool, jets and air channels
The air and water channels behind the jets are warm, barely flushed through and therefore the most critical point in the installation. They are flushed by a suitable method, the water is changed and the filter cleaned or replaced.
Pool surround, coping and plant room outside
Coping stones with a scale line, timber and WPC decking, slip resistance around the pool, the entry ladder, the handrail and the fins of the heat pump. On the outdoor unit, every layer of dust and leaves costs heating output.
Skimmer, pre-filter, bottom drain
The skimmer basket and the pump pre-filter are emptied and rinsed, and the bottom drain is checked for flow. That is where most cloudiness begins, because a half-blocked intake halves the circulation rate without anyone noticing.
Filter and backwashing
The sand filter is backwashed until the sight glass runs clear, followed by the rinse cycle; cartridges are taken out and cleaned. The filter pressure is noted, because a rise of roughly two to three tenths of a bar above the starting value is the actual reason to backwash.
Waterline, walls and floor
At the waterline sits a film of sun oil, skin grease and dust which does not come off with chlorine but mechanically, with a suitable waterline cleaner. Floor and walls are brushed and vacuumed, liner pools with a soft brush, tiled pools harder.
Measure the water, do not estimate it
pH, free and combined chlorine, total alkalinity, calcium hardness and, where stabilised chlorine is used, the cyanuric acid are determined photometrically. Test strips are good enough for a trend, not for deciding on dosing.
The hillside locations in the west mean pools on terraces with no vehicle access: vacuums, pumps and chemicals are carried, and the time goes on the approach rather than on the pool. From sloping plots, heavy rain brings clay and soil into the water — fine mineral turbidity that no sand filter catches and that needs flocculation. In winter the inversion lays a film of dust on the cover which falls into the pool when it is opened in spring, which is why we clean the cover before it is run out.
03. Pool Cleaning: Bling Bling vs. the competition
A pool does not stay clear through chemistry but through circulation, filter performance and a stable pH — chlorine is the last link in the chain, not the first. Cloudy water, or water on the turn, almost always has its cause in the hydraulics: too short a running time, caked filter sand, a half-closed intake. That is why we check baskets, filter pressure and running time first, measure the values photometrically and record them, instead of adding more product and hoping. We give the cost range after the inspection, because pool volume, plant and use determine the work involved. In Graz, Bling Bling works with the same core team that knows the building.

06. 10 reasons for Pool Cleaning from Bling Bling
What a cleaning company has to be measured against — and which of it can be verified.
1In business since 2014
A family firm, not a franchise and not a broker — whoever quotes also carries out the work.
2Registered core team
Permanently employed and properly registered. No chain of subcontractors where nobody is liable at the end.
3The same people every time
The team knows the building, the access and the routines. Cover is arranged and named in advance.
4€3m public liability
Personal injury, property and financial loss covered; the certificate is attached to the quotation.
5RKI/VAH-listed agents, HACCP
Listed agents, trained staff, a cleaning and disinfection plan for each building.
6Multilingual
German, English and five further languages — the briefing gets through.
7No price without a site visit
A flat price over the phone rarely holds. After the visit the framework is set out in writing. A monthly flat rate applies to weekly recurring cleaning; one-off and deep cleans by effort - hourly, per square metre or flat - travel included.
8Dated proof
Record of each visit and photo documentation, reported monthly.
9Whatever is not in the water circuit is part of the visit
The cover pit, the overflow channel, the balance tank and the air channels behind the jets belong on the list — those are the places where an installation turns even though the readings are right.
10Wearing parts are reported with the type plate
Cell, quartz sleeve, UV lamp, seals and hoses are recorded with a photograph and the type designation, so that replacements can be ordered before the failure comes.
07. Pool Cleaning in 4 more cities
Bling Bling works in Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg and Klosterneuburg — with its own staff on site, not with subcontractors hired in.
08. Pool Cleaning for 5 typical situations
The same service looks different depending on the occasion — these five situations come up most often.
Taking over a house with unfamiliar plant
After a purchase it is often unclear how the filter, the dosing and the counter-current unit have been run. We survey what is there and hand over operating instructions for everyday use.
After heavy rain that washes in soil and clay
From sloping plots, fine mineral silt gets into the pool which the filter does not catch. That is a visit with flocculation, floor vacuuming and repeated backwashing.
Black or yellow algae in joints and corners
These forms sit in the pore space with a protective layer and barely react to normal chlorine levels. They are opened up mechanically and treated locally, after which they are monitored over several days.
Whirlpool and spa water changes on a cycle
Small volume, high temperature, many users per litre: here it is the planned water change, together with flushing the pipework and the jets, that decides the water quality, not the dosing.
Before the sale or handover of a house with a pool
Buyers ask about the plant, its condition and how it is run. We survey the installation and the state of the pool, take the readings and hand over the documentation with photographs.
★ Worth knowing
What is often misjudged about Pool Cleaning
Said up front, on the facts — not after the invoice.
Water that is too soft attacks the pool, water that is too hard comes out of solution
The calcium carbonate and carbonic acid equilibrium depends on pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness and temperature: if the sum sits too low, the water is hungry for lime and dissolves jointing mortar, concrete surfaces and tile adhesive, which shows up as a sandy joint and a rough wall. If it sits too high, calcium carbonate precipitates and settles as a hard deposit on the waterline, the liner, the heat exchanger and the electrolysis cell — and a coated heat exchanger heats measurably worse. With liner pools there is the further point that a permanently low pH drives the plasticisers out of the liner and leaves it brittle and wrinkled. That is why we measure not only chlorine and pH but also alkalinity and calcium hardness, and set them in that order.
Salt electrolysis needs maintenance; it is not maintenance-free
An electrolysis cell produces chlorine from the salt dissolved in the water, and on the plates precisely that scale comes out which never becomes visible in the pool: production falls off gradually without the unit reporting a fault, and the self-cleaning polarity reversal is not enough with hard fill water. Descaling is done to the manufacturer's instructions with dilute acid and without scraping, because the coating on the plates is lost in the process and the cell is then a spare part. The second point is the chloride load: salt water attacks stainless steel on ladders, handrails, cover profiles and screws as pitting corrosion, and it makes natural stone at the pool edge effloresce, which is why these parts are rinsed and checked after the season. Salt is not consumed; water loss dilutes it — topping up follows a measurement, not a feeling.
The pH decides whether chlorine works at all
Chlorine acts in water as hypochlorous acid, and the proportion in that form depends on the pH: at around 7.2 most of it is in the effective form, at 8.0 only a fraction. Adding more chlorine at a high pH raises the reading but barely raises the disinfection performance — and at the same time it loads the liner and the heat exchanger, because at a high pH and with hard fill water, scale comes out of solution. That is why the work always goes in this order: first set the total alkalinity as a buffer, then the pH into the range 7.0 to 7.4, then the disinfection.

●. Frequently asked questions about Pool Cleaning in Graz
What does Pool Cleaning cost?
There is no price before the site visit, and a figure given over the phone rarely holds. We look at surfaces, access and time windows, and then the cost framework is set out in writing with a schedule of services. What changes the price: the area, the frequency, the condition at handover and the time of day the work is done. Two rules apply everywhere: a monthly flat rate is only offered for recurring cleaning at least once a week, including stairwells. One-off jobs, first cleans and deep cleans are billed by effort - depending on the service by the hour at a higher rate, by square metre or as a flat price - and travel time there and back counts.
Is the site visit really free?
Yes, free of charge and without obligation. It is the only way to quote seriously, so we treat it as part of the offer, not as a service to be paid for.
Does the same person come every time?
Yes. The team is permanently employed and knows the building, the access arrangements and the routines. Cover is arranged in advance and named, and it works from the building log, not from a verbal handover.
Is your staff properly registered?
All of them, with social insurance. No chain of subcontractors in which nobody is liable at the end. Proof is provided on request.
What insurance is in place?
Public liability of €3m, covering personal injury, property damage and financial loss. The certificate is attached to the quotation.
What happens if something is not right?
It is put right within 48 hours, in writing, at no extra cost. Measured against the schedule of services and a joint inspection, not against an impression.
Can you work outside business hours?
Yes — early, late, at weekends or on public holidays. In occupied buildings, daytime cleaning in sections is often the better option, because the client sees the work and can raise anything immediately.
Do I have to provide materials or a room?
Materials and equipment we bring. What helps is a lockable store with a slop sink, space for the trolley and somewhere for pads to dry — damp pads in a closed bag are the most common source of smell in an otherwise clean building.
What notice period applies?
The contract is terminable monthly. There is no minimum term and no automatic extension by the year.
Do you also work in English?
Yes — German, English and five further languages. The briefing gets through, which matters more on site than it sounds.
Which documents do I get?
A schedule of services with frequencies, a dated record of each visit, photo documentation before and after, and a monthly report.
How quickly can you start?
Usually within a few working days of the quotation being accepted. Short-notice jobs are most readily possible in Vienna, because travel times within a district are short.
