So if a wing smells despite daily cleaning, urea has been left behind: in open joints, in cracks in the floor coating, beneath grille sections, in gullies. What helps against it is alternating alkaline cleaning, acidic passes against urine salts and enzymatic products given time, together with an extract system that is actually running.
Scratches are hiding places, and disinfection does not reach them
On scratched plastic boxes, worn bowls, open cracks in coatings and chipped tile joints, a biofilm forms in the grooves in which micro-organisms sit protected by their own matrix: the product reaches the outer layers, the core remains and grows back — the surface is then visibly clean and microbiologically not controllable. Part of hygiene is therefore assessing the surface itself: whatever is deeply scratched or open is replaced or repaired, not disinfected more often.
