At the water line there is a ring of body fat, cosmetics and silicone, which is taken off with a degreaser and not with acid. Along with that the overflow channel, the entry ladder, the handrail and the underside of the roller cover, on which biofilm holds.
Infrared cabin and colour-light elements
Glass surfaces, emitter covers, seat and back surfaces of hemlock or cedar are worked dry and only damped down in spots. No moisture goes near the emitters, the cable trunking or the control panel, and the timber is not oiled, because it evaporates off in use.
Ice fountain, Kneipp pool and deluge showers
Inner container, scoop, channel, pool wall and handrail scale up and build biofilm. Cleaning is appropriate to the material, and the Kneipp pool is emptied completely and wiped out before disinfection, because residual water dilutes the concentration.
Besides hotels, Linz has a striking number of works and company saunas, where access is possible only with a briefing and the cleaning falls in line with the shift pattern. Infusion concentrates are solvents and a cause of slipping
Essential oils such as eucalyptus, menthol and citrus act on plastic and lacquer like a mild solvent: control panels go matt, seals swell, acrylic develops stress cracks. Whatever goes beside the stone bowl stays as a greasy film on steps and tiles, and wet that is distinctly more slippery than the covering itself — a neutral cleaner will not remove it. Poured undiluted onto hot stones, the concentrate cokes in the stove and then comes through with every infusion. We take these residues off with a degreaser, keep the area around the stove in the plan, and report when a panel has already been attacked.
Chlorinated air attacks stainless steel and the ceiling
Above a whirlpool or a pool there is an aerosol of pool water and disinfection by-products. The typical swimming pool smell comes not from the chlorine itself but from chloramines, which form when chlorine meets sweat, urea and cosmetics — a rise in that smell indicates loading, not cleanliness. For the components above it, that atmosphere is the risk: on highly loaded stainless steel parts in pool halls, stress corrosion cracking is a well-known failure pattern, and chloride-bearing cleaners accelerate it. There we work without chloride-bearing products, wipe stainless steel dry afterwards and report brown spots at once, because they go on working below the surface.
Slip resistance in a barefoot area is a measured value
Wet barefoot surfaces are divided into classes A to C, tested on the inclined plane to DIN 51097; for pool edges and showers the higher class applies. That value belongs to the surface as it was installed — and every film-forming additive lowers it: a mop-applied maintainer containing polymer, oil from the massage area, residue from brine or a scrub, and even an overdosed cleaner that is not rinsed off. That is why in the barefoot area we work without any maintenance additive, rinse clear after every treatment that leaves a residue, and report places where the profiling has been filled in by layers of limescale.
