What stands out first is black spots of droppings on mattress seams, the slatted base, bed frame screws and behind skirting boards, along with pale cast skins and small blood spots on the cover — the insect itself is rarely seen during the day. For the cleaning that means: vacuum with a filter class, dispose of the bag sealed immediately, wash textiles at at least 60 degrees or put them in the dryer, and no chemicals, because eradication is a matter for a pest controller. It also matters that the mopping trolley, the vacuum and the laundry bags do not travel on into the next unit, because that is exactly how a single case becomes a whole floor's case.
Empty rooms are the problem for the water supply
If water stands in a pipe for weeks, for instance in units not occupied over the holidays, it warms up and favours the multiplication of legionella, particularly in the lukewarm range between about 25 and 45 degrees. At the first shower an aerosol is produced, and that is precisely the route of uptake.
