Hair colour has to come off the same day, or it stays
Oxidative colours only develop their colour inside the material: the small dye precursor penetrates plastic, silicone joints and porous tile grout and is turned there by the oxidising agent into the large colour molecule, which can no longer be washed out. While fresh, the drop can be taken off with water and a mild cleaner; after a day, usually only a bleaching treatment with a compatibility test will help, and later nothing will. That is why we take the colour station first at every visit and report marks that the salon would otherwise only notice at handover.
It is not water that makes the floor slippery but conditioners
Silicones and fatty alcohols from conditioners and styling products form a film with fine hair dust that cancels out the slip resistance of the flooring: a floor that meets its slip rating when dry then becomes a fall risk with a harmless puddle. The film only comes off with a mildly alkaline cleaner and mechanical action, and it builds up further with every wipe that contains no surfactant. That is why we have a deep-cleaning interval in the plan and not just the daily pass.
Hairspray lays a polymer film on everything nearby
The spray mist cures as a water-insoluble layer on mirrors, dryer holders, lights and shelves; water will not take it up, and ordinary glass cleaner smears it. It is dissolved with an alcohol-based or mildly alkaline solution, contact time and a soft cloth — without a blade, because mirror edges and coated surfaces will not forgive one. While the film is days old it comes off in one pass; after months it takes several.
