02. What Data Centre Cleaning at Bling Bling covers
The scope of work in Vienna at a glance — what the contract says and what actually happens on site.
Record and interval
Every zone is documented with date, personnel and photograph, and anything conspicuous is reported rather than dealt with. The cleaning interval follows the input and the occupancy, not the calendar; as a guide for the degree of cleanliness, the particle classification to ISO 14644-1 is used.
UPS and battery room
Housings, cabinet exteriors, floor areas and cable trays are worked dry, and traces of electrolyte and salt are documented rather than wiped away. Entry is only after release, because in battery rooms ventilation and the absence of ignition sources take priority.
Close-control cooling units and filter changes
Filter mats are changed once released, the condensate tray and the drain are cleaned, and the evaporator fins and the inside of the housing are vacuumed. Type, filter class and date of change go into a list, so that the operator can follow the rhythm.
Dry coolers and outdoor units
The fins, guards and intake areas of outdoor units clog up with pollen, leaves, seeds and dust. Cleaning is done with the unit switched off, at a suitable pressure and in the direction of the fins, because bent fins restrict the air path permanently.
Standby power, generator and fuel room
After test runs there is a finely distributed film of soot on the housing, the floor and the wall surfaces, along with traces of oil at the unions. Cleaning is done once cool and with collection into separate containers, and leaks are reported.
Carrier, distribution and fibre rooms
After splicing and patching work there are fibre offcuts, buffer tubes and protective sleeves on the floor and on the shelves. Collection is exclusively with a fine particulate filter vacuum and adhesive tape, disposal in closed containers, and connectors and patch panels are left untouched.
The large sites lie in the south and east — Liesing, Simmering, the Donaustadt and the area around the city boundary — while at the same time there are a great many small server rooms in office buildings and in the period stock: in the basement, with no raised floor, with split units and a condensate pump. There it is not the void that is the issue but room dust, storage in the same room and a condensate drain that belongs to nobody. Access and a loading bay need a permit in short-stay parking zones, materials go up in the goods lift by prior arrangement, and operators' maintenance windows fall at night.
03. Data Centre Cleaning: Bling Bling vs. the competition
In a data centre dust is not a question of appearance but of heat: it is drawn in, settles on heat sinks and intake grilles and costs cooling capacity long before anything fails. At the same time the cleaning itself is the risk factor — a cable brushed against, a floor panel put back wrongly, an electrostatic discharge or a false alarm from the early fire detection do more damage than the dust. That is why we work with an opening plan, dissipative equipment, extraction only and a fixed list of names, agreed with the operator. We give the cost range after the inspection, because the number of zones, the access rules and the floor construction determine the work involved. In Vienna, Bling Bling works with the same core team that knows the building.

06. 10 reasons for Data Centre Cleaning from Bling Bling
What a cleaning company has to be measured against — and which of it can be verified.
1In business since 2014
A family firm, not a franchise and not a broker — whoever quotes also carries out the work.
2Registered core team
Permanently employed and properly registered. No chain of subcontractors where nobody is liable at the end.
3The same people every time
The team knows the building, the access and the routines. Cover is arranged and named in advance.
4€3m public liability
Personal injury, property and financial loss covered; the certificate is attached to the quotation.
5RKI/VAH-listed agents, HACCP
Listed agents, trained staff, a cleaning and disinfection plan for each building.
6Multilingual
German, English and five further languages — the briefing gets through.
7No price without a site visit
A flat price over the phone rarely holds. After the visit the framework is set out in writing. A monthly flat rate applies to weekly recurring cleaning; one-off and deep cleans by effort - hourly, per square metre or flat - travel included.
8Dated proof
Record of each visit and photo documentation, reported monthly.
9Findings go to the operator
Points noticed in the void — open cable penetrations, missing blanking panels, corroded panel undersides, traces of condensate at the close-control cooling — are photographed and reported. None of it is worked on without an instruction.
10Filter changes and the condensate tray are part of the visit
Once released we change filter mats, clean the tray and the drain and enter type, class and date in a list — rather than leaving that to sit between cleaning and building services.
07. Data Centre Cleaning in 4 more cities
Bling Bling works in Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg and Klosterneuburg — with its own staff on site, not with subcontractors hired in.
08. Data Centre Cleaning for 5 typical situations
The same service looks different depending on the occasion — these five situations come up most often.
After a battery change or UPS conversion
Old battery sets leave marks, packaging dust and metal debris in the room. Cleaning is done after the work is finished and before the system is switched back in.
Before certification or recertification
Anyone certifying availability and information security has to present a cleanliness standard and evidence. We supply a zone plan, a photographic record and a dated filter list.
Before handing back colocation space
At the end of a contract what counts is empty racks, closed floor cut-outs, blanking panels and a documented condition in the void. Survey, cleaning and handover record in one sequence.
After building or conversion work in the server room
Drilling, cutting and filling leave mineral fine dust which gets into the intake air. That is the single most important occasion and belongs before recommissioning.
Before an audit or a customer visit
Anyone letting colocation space is judged on condition and evidence. We supply a dated photographic record for each zone.
★ Worth knowing
What is often misjudged about Data Centre Cleaning
Said up front, on the facts — not after the invoice.
Fibre offcuts are invisible and do not belong in a broom
Splicing and terminating produces fibre offcuts a few micrometres in diameter; they are barely visible, break off easily and penetrate the skin on contact, where they are difficult to remove. So there is no sweeping and no wiping by hand: collection is with a fine particulate filter vacuum and adhesive tape, disposal in closed, labelled containers. The second reason is technical: a single particle on a connector end face is enough for measurable additional attenuation or an interrupted link, which is why connectors, couplers and patch panels are handled exclusively by the network engineers. We clean the room, not the connection.
Dust costs cooling capacity before anything fails
A layer of dust on intake grilles, fan grilles and heat sinks acts like insulation: the fans run faster, the power consumption rises, the component temperature rises with it, and processors throttle back their clock speed. That is precisely why blowing out with compressed air is the worst solution there is — the dust leaves one device and is drawn in again by the neighbouring rack. Work is exclusively with extraction through a fine particulate filter and with pick-up cloths, and the open points in the cold aisle, that is to say missing blanking panels and open floor cut-outs, belong to the same subject.
Zinc whiskers under the floor panel
Electroplated zinc undersides of older raised floor panels form fine, needle-shaped zinc crystals over the years. They break off when disturbed, travel with the airflow into the equipment and can cause short circuits there — in the event of damage the cause is hardly ever found, because the trigger is micrometres in size. That is why suspicious panels are not brushed, ground or swept dry but carefully vacuumed, and the findings reported with photographs: the decision on replacement or coating lies with the operator.

●. Frequently asked questions about Data Centre Cleaning in Vienna
What does Data Centre Cleaning cost?
There is no price before the site visit, and a figure given over the phone rarely holds. We look at surfaces, access and time windows, and then the cost framework is set out in writing with a schedule of services. What changes the price: the area, the frequency, the condition at handover and the time of day the work is done. Two rules apply everywhere: a monthly flat rate is only offered for recurring cleaning at least once a week, including stairwells. One-off jobs, first cleans and deep cleans are billed by effort - depending on the service by the hour at a higher rate, by square metre or as a flat price - and travel time there and back counts.
Is the site visit really free?
Yes, free of charge and without obligation. It is the only way to quote seriously, so we treat it as part of the offer, not as a service to be paid for.
Does the same person come every time?
Yes. The team is permanently employed and knows the building, the access arrangements and the routines. Cover is arranged in advance and named, and it works from the building log, not from a verbal handover.
Is your staff properly registered?
All of them, with social insurance. No chain of subcontractors in which nobody is liable at the end. Proof is provided on request.
What insurance is in place?
Public liability of €3m, covering personal injury, property damage and financial loss. The certificate is attached to the quotation.
What happens if something is not right?
It is put right within 48 hours, in writing, at no extra cost. Measured against the schedule of services and a joint inspection, not against an impression.
Can you work outside business hours?
Yes — early, late, at weekends or on public holidays. In occupied buildings, daytime cleaning in sections is often the better option, because the client sees the work and can raise anything immediately.
Do I have to provide materials or a room?
Materials and equipment we bring. What helps is a lockable store with a slop sink, space for the trolley and somewhere for pads to dry — damp pads in a closed bag are the most common source of smell in an otherwise clean building.
What notice period applies?
The contract is terminable monthly. There is no minimum term and no automatic extension by the year.
Do you also work in English?
Yes — German, English and five further languages. The briefing gets through, which matters more on site than it sounds.
Which documents do I get?
A schedule of services with frequencies, a dated record of each visit, photo documentation before and after, and a monthly report.
How quickly can you start?
Usually within a few working days of the quotation being accepted. Short-notice jobs are most readily possible in Vienna, because travel times within a district are short.
