02. What Climbing Gym Cleaning at Bling Bling covers

The scope of work in Vienna at a glance — what the contract says and what actually happens on site.

Café corner, circulation and the record

Tables, counter, the floor in the seating area and the transitions to the bouldering surface, together with photographs and a record of attendance with the date. Ropes, harnesses and belay devices are not treated by us.

Rental shoes and hire equipment

The inside of the shoe and the toe area treated after every return and disinfected with a listed agent, brushed out, dried in an open rack with air movement. Harnesses and belay devices stay with the centre's technical staff.

Rubber abrasion on footholds and wall texture

Black streaks on small footholds, edges and volumes come off the shoe sole and are taken off dry with a brush, an eraser block or a pad. Route markings, tape and colour dots are left in place.

Mat joints, substructure and edge trims

Between the impact protection elements, chalk compacts into a hard layer. Joints are vacuumed out, elements lifted according to plan, the substructure and edge trims included, anything noticeable reported in writing.

Glass surfaces, rooflights and window sills

The veil of chalk on glass is first dusted off dry and only then worked barely damp, because otherwise it smears. On window sills and beam edges lies the coarse fraction that causes the streaks.

Training and fitness area

Dumbbell grips, rings, campus board rungs, equipment padding, floor mats and mirrors. Contact surfaces with listed agents and the contact time observed, padding without solvents.

The Vienna centres are large and lie predominantly in converted commercial and industrial buildings on the edge of the city and beyond the Danube, in Floridsdorf and the Donaustadt. Occupancy is high in the evenings and in bad weather, which is why we work early in the morning or after closing, so that the floor and the mats are dry for the first climber. School and course use in the morning compresses the rhythm further. Swept chalk and filter contents go through the commercial disposal route, not into the household waste.

03. Climbing Gym Cleaning: Bling Bling vs. the competition

In a climbing centre the main soiling is a powder: chalk is fine-grained, hygroscopic and mildly alkaline, it settles on every horizontal surface, and with water it becomes a smeary film that is more slippery than the dust was before. On top of that there are components with a safety function — mat covers, wall texture, holds, textile equipment — which the wrong chemistry does not make clean but makes worse, and does so invisibly. We work dry where chalk lies, wet only where the construction can take it, and we keep to the manufacturers' specifications for mats and holds. The cost framework we give after the inspection with the centre management, because the wall area, the height and the access determine the effort. In Vienna, Bling Bling works with the same core team that knows the building.

06. 10 reasons for Climbing Gym Cleaning from Bling Bling

What a cleaning company has to be measured against — and which of it can be verified.

1In business since 2014

A family firm, not a franchise and not a broker — whoever quotes also carries out the work.

2Registered core team

Permanently employed and properly registered. No chain of subcontractors where nobody is liable at the end.

3The same people every time

The team knows the building, the access and the routines. Cover is arranged and named in advance.

4€3m public liability

Personal injury, property and financial loss covered; the certificate is attached to the quotation.

5RKI/VAH-listed agents, HACCP

Listed agents, trained staff, a cleaning and disinfection plan for each building.

6Multilingual

German, English and five further languages — the briefing gets through.

7No price without a site visit

A flat price over the phone rarely holds. After the visit the framework is set out in writing. A monthly flat rate applies to weekly recurring cleaning; one-off and deep cleans by effort - hourly, per square metre or flat - travel included.

8Dated proof

Record of each visit and photo documentation, reported monthly.

9Marginal hours with no operation

Work is done early or after closing, so that the floor and the mats are dry when people climb. Staffed from our permanently employed core team, with access recorded.

10Hire equipment with separated issue

Returned shoes and shoes ready for issue are stored separately and the treatment recorded with the date, so that the centre has something in hand if a complaint is made.

08. Climbing Gym Cleaning for 5 typical situations

The same service looks different depending on the occasion — these five situations come up most often.

Before a competition or a school event

Mats, glass, sanitary areas, the spectator zone and the hire desk in an additional appointment, with a fixed completion time before admission.

The outdoor season is over

On the outdoor climbing tower, timber decks, steps and the forecourt there is algae, moss and leaves, and grit in the entrance. One round before the winter and one after it.

Course and group use with children

More hand contact on the low holds, more rental shoes in circulation, more chalk on the mats. An additional round in the afternoon keeps the evening usable.

The route-setting cycle and a change of routes

When the holds are off, the wall is clear — that is the window for the wall surface, the t-nuts and the high-level surfaces. The appointment is hung on the setting plan.

After the winter season or the holiday peak

High occupancy means more chalk in the air and more abrasion on holds and mats. A deep round sets the baseline condition afresh.

★ Worth knowing

What is often misjudged about Climbing Gym Cleaning

Said up front, on the facts — not after the invoice.

The gap between the mats is the place nobody sees

Boulder impact protection consists of several elements with joints, overlaps and edge trims. Chalk trickles in, compacts with moisture into a hard layer, and with it come hair, tape remains and small items. That is, first, a hygiene point, because people work there barefoot and with their hands, and second a safety point: a compacted deposit and slipped edge trims let the elements travel against each other, and then an edge or a gap arises that is hit in a fall. That is why joints are vacuumed out, elements lifted according to plan, hook-and-loop fastenings and edge trims checked, and anything noticeable reported in writing. The release of the impact protection surface itself remains with the centre's technical staff.

Chalk is an alkaline powder and not ordinary dust

Climbing chalk is at its core basic magnesium carbonate: very fine-grained, mildly alkaline and strongly water-attracting. If it gets wet, a smeary paste forms that is slippery on a hard covering and dries on in joints, and a single wet round over dry chalk leaves the surface worse than before. Sweeping brings it back into the room as fine dust, from where it goes into the ventilation and the filters — that is why it is vacuumed off first, where there is a lot of it with a dust class M vacuum and a fine filter, and only then drawn over barely damp with a neutral cleaner.

Holds can take water, but not heat and no solvents

Climbing holds are predominantly polyurethane with a mineral filler; hot wash cycles, steam and solvents attack the matrix, the hold goes glassy smooth, distorts, or loses its fit at the bolting face — and a distorted hold is no longer a cleaning problem. Professionally they are soaked in hand-warm water with a mild, neutral cleaner, worked with a brush, rinsed clear and dried completely before the hold goes back on the wall; the hold manufacturer's specification takes precedence over any house routine. The wall panel itself stays dry: wood-based panels with a textured coating swell where water gets into the drilling and the panel joint, and the t-nut then sits less well.

●. Frequently asked questions about Climbing Gym Cleaning in Vienna

What does Climbing Gym Cleaning cost?

There is no price before the site visit, and a figure given over the phone rarely holds. We look at surfaces, access and time windows, and then the cost framework is set out in writing with a schedule of services. What changes the price: the area, the frequency, the condition at handover and the time of day the work is done. Two rules apply everywhere: a monthly flat rate is only offered for recurring cleaning at least once a week, including stairwells. One-off jobs, first cleans and deep cleans are billed by effort - depending on the service by the hour at a higher rate, by square metre or as a flat price - and travel time there and back counts.

Is the site visit really free?

Yes, free of charge and without obligation. It is the only way to quote seriously, so we treat it as part of the offer, not as a service to be paid for.

Does the same person come every time?

Yes. The team is permanently employed and knows the building, the access arrangements and the routines. Cover is arranged in advance and named, and it works from the building log, not from a verbal handover.

Is your staff properly registered?

All of them, with social insurance. No chain of subcontractors in which nobody is liable at the end. Proof is provided on request.

What insurance is in place?

Public liability of €3m, covering personal injury, property damage and financial loss. The certificate is attached to the quotation.

What happens if something is not right?

It is put right within 48 hours, in writing, at no extra cost. Measured against the schedule of services and a joint inspection, not against an impression.

Can you work outside business hours?

Yes — early, late, at weekends or on public holidays. In occupied buildings, daytime cleaning in sections is often the better option, because the client sees the work and can raise anything immediately.

Do I have to provide materials or a room?

Materials and equipment we bring. What helps is a lockable store with a slop sink, space for the trolley and somewhere for pads to dry — damp pads in a closed bag are the most common source of smell in an otherwise clean building.

What notice period applies?

The contract is terminable monthly. There is no minimum term and no automatic extension by the year.

Do you also work in English?

Yes — German, English and five further languages. The briefing gets through, which matters more on site than it sounds.

Which documents do I get?

A schedule of services with frequencies, a dated record of each visit, photo documentation before and after, and a monthly report.

How quickly can you start?

Usually within a few working days of the quotation being accepted. Short-notice jobs are most readily possible in Vienna, because travel times within a district are short.
