The floor in the weights area tolerates neither solvents nor deep cleaners
Rubber granulate floors are bound elastomers: strongly alkaline cleaners and solvents attack the binder, the surface becomes porous and afterwards takes up every kind of dirt more deeply. In the studio there is often a resilient sports floor to DIN 18032-2 or sealed parquet; there standing water is the problem, because it runs into the joint and the perimeter junction and gets under the seal. Both surfaces are cleaned with a barely damp pad and with the agent approved for that flooring, not flooded wet.
In the barefoot area the spectrum of the agent decides matters
The organisms that cause athlete's foot are filamentous fungi, and not every surface disinfectant works against them: what is needed is one with a demonstrated fungicidal effect and the full contact time on the wet surface. Beneath that, the limescale and soap film has to go first, because a layer of limescale shields the organisms in joints and the edges of gratings, and disinfection on limescale is wasted work. That is why in the barefoot area the work is descaling with an acid, rinsing and then disinfecting — in that order, with separate equipment.
Sauna and steam room are two different tasks
In a sauna cabin, cleaning agent has no business being in the timber: it draws in and gases off when the cabin is heated, and any film closes the pores. Benches and backrests are worked dry, lightened mechanically, and treated with a suitable agent only on the contact surfaces. The steam room is the opposite: permanently damp, warm and laden with limescale, so the classic place for biofilm — there the work is descaling with an acid, disinfecting, and opening the nozzle and the outlet.
