02. What Climbing Gym Cleaning at Bling Bling covers

The scope of work in Salzburg at a glance — what the contract says and what actually happens on site.

Mat joints, substructure and edge trims

Between the impact protection elements, chalk compacts into a hard layer. Joints are vacuumed out, elements lifted according to plan, the substructure and edge trims included, anything noticeable reported in writing.

Glass surfaces, rooflights and window sills

The veil of chalk on glass is first dusted off dry and only then worked barely damp, because otherwise it smears. On window sills and beam edges lies the coarse fraction that causes the streaks.

Training and fitness area

Dumbbell grips, rings, campus board rungs, equipment padding, floor mats and mirrors. Contact surfaces with listed agents and the contact time observed, padding without solvents.

Water point, forecourt and outdoor climbing tower

The drinking fountain and slop sink, the forecourt with grit and leaves, the outdoor climbing tower with algae and moss on timber, concrete and steps. External areas run on a seasonal cycle.

Chalk dust on floors, edges and high-level surfaces

The dust settles on every horizontal surface: beams, luminaires, ventilation grilles, shelves, window sills. It is vacuumed off, with a fine filter where there is a lot of it, and not swept.

Fall zone matting and impact protection covers

Covers pH-neutral and without solvents, seams, hook-and-loop fastenings and butt edges individually. The mats are not soaked but wiped damp and drawn over dry afterwards.

In Salzburg occupancy depends heavily on the weather: on rainy days and in the shoulder season the centres are full, and that is exactly when the most chalk dust arises. Outdoor climbing surfaces, timber decks and approaches pick up moss and algae because of the high rainfall, which calls for a seasonal cycle of its own. The centres stand in commercial areas on the edge of the city, so old-town questions play no part here — but deliveries in winter depend on the weather and are planned with a buffer.

03. Climbing Gym Cleaning: Bling Bling vs. the competition

In a climbing centre the main soiling is a powder: chalk is fine-grained, hygroscopic and mildly alkaline, it settles on every horizontal surface, and with water it becomes a smeary film that is more slippery than the dust was before. On top of that there are components with a safety function — mat covers, wall texture, holds, textile equipment — which the wrong chemistry does not make clean but makes worse, and does so invisibly. We work dry where chalk lies, wet only where the construction can take it, and we keep to the manufacturers' specifications for mats and holds. The cost framework we give after the inspection with the centre management, because the wall area, the height and the access determine the effort. In Salzburg, Bling Bling works with the same core team that knows the building.

06. 10 reasons for Climbing Gym Cleaning from Bling Bling

What a cleaning company has to be measured against — and which of it can be verified.

1In business since 2014

A family firm, not a franchise and not a broker — whoever quotes also carries out the work.

2Registered core team

Permanently employed and properly registered. No chain of subcontractors where nobody is liable at the end.

3The same people every time

The team knows the building, the access and the routines. Cover is arranged and named in advance.

4€3m public liability

Personal injury, property and financial loss covered; the certificate is attached to the quotation.

5RKI/VAH-listed agents, HACCP

Listed agents, trained staff, a cleaning and disinfection plan for each building.

6Multilingual

German, English and five further languages — the briefing gets through.

7No price without a site visit

A flat price over the phone rarely holds. After the visit the framework is set out in writing. A monthly flat rate applies to weekly recurring cleaning; one-off and deep cleans by effort - hourly, per square metre or flat - travel included.

8Dated proof

Record of each visit and photo documentation, reported monthly.

9A clear separation from the safety equipment

We clean surfaces and components; we do not treat personal protective equipment. Ropes, harnesses, slings and belay devices stay with the centre's own technical staff, and that is how it stands in the schedule of services.

10Marginal hours with no operation

Work is done early or after closing, so that the floor and the mats are dry when people climb. Staffed from our permanently employed core team, with access recorded.

08. Climbing Gym Cleaning for 5 typical situations

The same service looks different depending on the occasion — these five situations come up most often.

The outdoor season is over

On the outdoor climbing tower, timber decks, steps and the forecourt there is algae, moss and leaves, and grit in the entrance. One round before the winter and one after it.

Course and group use with children

More hand contact on the low holds, more rental shoes in circulation, more chalk on the mats. An additional round in the afternoon keeps the evening usable.

The route-setting cycle and a change of routes

When the holds are off, the wall is clear — that is the window for the wall surface, the t-nuts and the high-level surfaces. The appointment is hung on the setting plan.

After the winter season or the holiday peak

High occupancy means more chalk in the air and more abrasion on holds and mats. A deep round sets the baseline condition afresh.

The floor has become dusty and slippery

Chalk dust on a hard covering acts like a release agent, and damp it becomes smeary. That is a question of method and not of frequency.

★ Worth knowing

What is often misjudged about Climbing Gym Cleaning

Said up front, on the facts — not after the invoice.

Textile safety equipment is not cleaned along with the rest

Ropes, harnesses, slings and quickdraws are polyamide and polyester products and are managed as personal protective equipment; cleaning agents, disinfectants, fabric softener and temperatures above the manufacturer's specification alter the fibre, and the loss of strength cannot be seen from the outside. Care of such items runs through the centre's equipment management, following the manufacturer's instructions and the requirements for dynamic mountaineering ropes to EN 892 — not through the cleaning trolley. The same thinking applies to the mat cover: we work pH-neutral, because alcohol and solvents attack the plasticiser in the cover and the surface then tears open at seams and edges.

Climbing shoes are a hygiene matter, not a laundry matter

The inside of the shoe is leather or textile over a rubberised sole and is worn barefoot; in a closed rack it barely dries out. A washing machine, a dryer, heat above the manufacturer's specification and solvents break down the bond between sole and upper — the shoe opens at the toe and is scrap. The correct approach is: after every return, treat the inside with a listed agent and the contact time observed, brush out, dry in an open rack with air movement, and only then issue again. Because people climb barefoot, athlete's foot is the real reason for this effort, and what works against it is the contact time, not a spray mist. Returned items and items ready for issue belong in separate storage, otherwise the whole procedure is wasted.

Rubber abrasion comes off mechanically and by nothing else

The black coating on small footholds, edges and narrow ledges is sole rubber, which transfers under pressure and frictional heat. It is a closed, smooth layer and makes the foothold slippery precisely where the surface is small — to the climber it feels like a bad day, but in fact it is a maintenance condition. Solvents and strong degreasers attack the textured coating of the wall and the polyurethane of the holds without dissolving the rubber; it is taken off dry with a brush, an eraser block or a pad, and some patience. What must not come off with it are the route markings: colour dots, strips of tape and chalk marks are information, and a deleted marking is a deleted route.

●. Frequently asked questions about Climbing Gym Cleaning in Salzburg

What does Climbing Gym Cleaning cost?

There is no price before the site visit, and a figure given over the phone rarely holds. We look at surfaces, access and time windows, and then the cost framework is set out in writing with a schedule of services. What changes the price: the area, the frequency, the condition at handover and the time of day the work is done. Two rules apply everywhere: a monthly flat rate is only offered for recurring cleaning at least once a week, including stairwells. One-off jobs, first cleans and deep cleans are billed by effort - depending on the service by the hour at a higher rate, by square metre or as a flat price - and travel time there and back counts.

Is the site visit really free?

Yes, free of charge and without obligation. It is the only way to quote seriously, so we treat it as part of the offer, not as a service to be paid for.

Does the same person come every time?

Yes. The team is permanently employed and knows the building, the access arrangements and the routines. Cover is arranged in advance and named, and it works from the building log, not from a verbal handover.

Is your staff properly registered?

All of them, with social insurance. No chain of subcontractors in which nobody is liable at the end. Proof is provided on request.

What insurance is in place?

Public liability of €3m, covering personal injury, property damage and financial loss. The certificate is attached to the quotation.

What happens if something is not right?

It is put right within 48 hours, in writing, at no extra cost. Measured against the schedule of services and a joint inspection, not against an impression.

Can you work outside business hours?

Yes — early, late, at weekends or on public holidays. In occupied buildings, daytime cleaning in sections is often the better option, because the client sees the work and can raise anything immediately.

Do I have to provide materials or a room?

Materials and equipment we bring. What helps is a lockable store with a slop sink, space for the trolley and somewhere for pads to dry — damp pads in a closed bag are the most common source of smell in an otherwise clean building.

What notice period applies?

The contract is terminable monthly. There is no minimum term and no automatic extension by the year.

Do you also work in English?

Yes — German, English and five further languages. The briefing gets through, which matters more on site than it sounds.

Which documents do I get?

A schedule of services with frequencies, a dated record of each visit, photo documentation before and after, and a monthly report.

How quickly can you start?

Usually within a few working days of the quotation being accepted. Short-notice jobs are most readily possible in Vienna, because travel times within a district are short.
