02. What Nursing Home Cleaning at Bling Bling covers

The scope of work in Graz at a glance — what the contract says and what actually happens on site.

Nurses' station, records and medication room

The duty station, records table, the outside of the care trolley, the work surface, the hand wash point and the outside of the medicine cabinet are part of it. Prepared medication, records and residents' papers are not moved and not lifted.

Therapy, hairdressing, chapel and visitors' rooms

The physiotherapy room, the hairdressing position with its hair trap and basin, the chapel, the relatives' room, the cafeteria and the terrace with residents' seating run by occupancy, not by the calendar. After an event the same room is put in order again that evening.

Residents' rooms

Discreet, dignified, with respect for privacy

Assisted bathrooms

Step-free bathrooms, treated with disinfection

Sanitary facilities

WCs, bathrooms, hygienic close to the resident

Communal rooms

Day rooms, dining hall, living areas

Graz homes frequently lie on a slope, with approaches and garden paths on a gradient; in winter grit comes in on walking frame wheels and wheelchair tyres as far as the living units and acts on PVC and linoleum like sandpaper. Some of the sites are in historic buildings with vaulted corridors and timber stairs, which may only be worked barely damp. With window ventilation, the inversion in the basin brings visible fine dust into rooms and onto dark furniture surfaces, which is why the window sill and high-level frequency is higher than in other cities. Proximity to the hospitals means more short-stay care and therefore more room changes per month.

03. Nursing Home Cleaning: Bling Bling vs. the competition

Care home cleaning is offered by several providers in Vienna. What is different at Bling Bling Premium Reinigung: dignified, hygienically correct cleaning from a single source with a permanent registered team and no subcontractors, RKI hygiene with a four-colour system, procedures safe for residents with dementia, a sensitive manner towards residents and €3m public liability. Whoever quotes also carries out the work. A family firm since 2014. In Graz, Bling Bling works with the same core team that knows the building.

06. 10 reasons for Nursing Home Cleaning from Bling Bling

What a cleaning company has to be measured against — and which of it can be verified.

1In business since 2014

A family firm, not a franchise and not a broker — whoever quotes also carries out the work.

2Registered core team

Permanently employed and properly registered. No chain of subcontractors where nobody is liable at the end.

3The same people every time

The team knows the building, the access and the routines. Cover is arranged and named in advance.

4€3m public liability

Personal injury, property and financial loss covered; the certificate is attached to the quotation.

5RKI/VAH-listed agents, HACCP

Listed agents, trained staff, a cleaning and disinfection plan for each building.

6Multilingual

German, English and five further languages — the briefing gets through.

7No price without a site visit

A flat price over the phone rarely holds. After the visit the framework is set out in writing. A monthly flat rate applies to weekly recurring cleaning; one-off and deep cleans by effort - hourly, per square metre or flat - travel included.

8Dated proof

Record of each visit and photo documentation, reported monthly.

9A fixed allocation per living unit

Every living unit has the same members of staff, because residents with dementia need familiar faces and because only someone who knows the unit notices what has changed.

10Odour is treated as a cause

We report a joint, a textile, a drain or the screed as the source rather than overlaying the unit with fragrance.

08. Nursing Home Cleaning for 5 typical situations

The same service looks different depending on the occasion — these five situations come up most often.

Infection management

In an outbreak, intensive deep disinfection to interrupt further spread.

A room prepared for a new admission

After a resident leaves, the room is worked completely: the bed frame including the underside, the inside of the bedside cabinet, the wardrobe, curtain track, window sill, radiator fins, skirting cove and the floor under the bed. Personal belongings are cleared by the home; we work the empty room.

A persistent odour finding in a living unit

When a corridor or a room smells despite the plan, the work follows the source and not the floor area: the silicone joint at the WC, the skirting junction, the bottom edge of the door leaf, upholstered chairs, the area around the mattress, the floor gully. The finding comes with a photograph and a proposal as to what cleaning solves and what needs a tradesman.

Converting a living unit to dementia care

In a protected unit the procedure and the time windows change: no trolley left unattended, no open bottles, no wet surfaces without someone present, but quieter equipment and familiar faces. The work is done at times when the daily routine allows it.

A gastrointestinal outbreak with the unit closed off

In an outbreak the affected living unit is worked separately: its own equipment, its own trolley, its own sequence from the clean to the affected end, with sanitary areas and hand contact surfaces several times a day. The unit is worked last, so that nothing is carried out.

★ Worth knowing

What is often misjudged about Nursing Home Cleaning

Said up front, on the facts — not after the invoice.

Urine odour sits in the joint, the textile and the screed, not in the air

Urine consists for the most part of urea and urate salts. The urea is broken down by bacteria into ammonia — that is the pungent smell — while the urate salts crystallise out and become active again with any moisture. That is exactly why a surface smells fine briefly after mopping and bad again the next morning: the crystals sit in the silicone joint at the foot of the WC, in the skirting junction, in the bottom edge of the door leaf, in the upholstery and, if the joint was ever leaking, in the screed beneath. The two effective approaches also work against each other: uric scale and limescale need an acidic sanitary cleaner at a low pH, while the organic remainder needs an enzymatic preparation that works only in the neutral range and with a long dwell time. Both at once cancel each other out, so the work is done one after the other with an intermediate rinse. Where the finding lies under the joint or in the screed, we say so with a photograph: there the joint has to be renewed, and fragrances only postpone the problem by a few hours.

Slip resistance in an assisted bathroom can be cleaned away

Tiles in assisted bathrooms and showers have a tested slip resistance: in shod areas to the classes R9 to R13, and in wet barefoot areas to the assessment groups A, B and C. That property lies in the surface structure, and the structure can close up. Limescale from hard water, soap and skin grease residues and above all film-forming maintenance products fill in the profile; the surface then looks the same but behaves like a smooth tile, and in an assisted bathroom that is a falls matter, not a cosmetic one. Conversely, too harsh an approach abrades the structure. The correct answer is an interval of acidic descaling, thorough rinsing afterwards and no maintenance layer at all — not the next coat of shine. The second point is loose rubber mats: they are meant to give grip, but they travel under the foot when soap residue lies underneath. We lift them at every pass, work beneath them and put them back only onto a dry surface.

Shower heads and tap aerators are a drinking water matter in a care home

Hot water between roughly 25 and 45 degrees is the growth range for legionella, and they are not transmitted by drinking but by fine spray — that is, precisely where showering takes place. ÖNORM B 5019 covers the design, operation and monitoring of central drinking water heating installations and lists facilities with people in care as an area with heightened requirements. The temperature regime, sampling and the flushing plan remain with the operator and the building services department — what the cleaning contributes is nevertheless material: shower heads, shower hoses and aerators are descaled or replaced as specified rather than wiped on the outside, because the deposit sits inside. Added to that is stagnation: a room that stands empty for weeks after a resident leaves has an unflushed branch pipe. Where the home provides for it, empty and reserve rooms are flushed during the pass and that is noted with a date — it is a line in the record and replaces no sampling.

●. Frequently asked questions about Nursing Home Cleaning in Graz

What does Nursing Home Cleaning cost?

There is no price before the site visit, and a figure given over the phone rarely holds. We look at surfaces, access and time windows, and then the cost framework is set out in writing with a schedule of services. What changes the price: the area, the frequency, the condition at handover and the time of day the work is done. Two rules apply everywhere: a monthly flat rate is only offered for recurring cleaning at least once a week, including stairwells. One-off jobs, first cleans and deep cleans are billed by effort - depending on the service by the hour at a higher rate, by square metre or as a flat price - and travel time there and back counts.

Is the site visit really free?

Yes, free of charge and without obligation. It is the only way to quote seriously, so we treat it as part of the offer, not as a service to be paid for.

Does the same person come every time?

Yes. The team is permanently employed and knows the building, the access arrangements and the routines. Cover is arranged in advance and named, and it works from the building log, not from a verbal handover.

Is your staff properly registered?

All of them, with social insurance. No chain of subcontractors in which nobody is liable at the end. Proof is provided on request.

What insurance is in place?

Public liability of €3m, covering personal injury, property damage and financial loss. The certificate is attached to the quotation.

What happens if something is not right?

It is put right within 48 hours, in writing, at no extra cost. Measured against the schedule of services and a joint inspection, not against an impression.

Can you work outside business hours?

Yes — early, late, at weekends or on public holidays. In occupied buildings, daytime cleaning in sections is often the better option, because the client sees the work and can raise anything immediately.

Do I have to provide materials or a room?

Materials and equipment we bring. What helps is a lockable store with a slop sink, space for the trolley and somewhere for pads to dry — damp pads in a closed bag are the most common source of smell in an otherwise clean building.

What notice period applies?

The contract is terminable monthly. There is no minimum term and no automatic extension by the year.

Do you also work in English?

Yes — German, English and five further languages. The briefing gets through, which matters more on site than it sounds.

Which documents do I get?

A schedule of services with frequencies, a dated record of each visit, photo documentation before and after, and a monthly report.

How quickly can you start?

Usually within a few working days of the quotation being accepted. Short-notice jobs are most readily possible in Vienna, because travel times within a district are short.
